Photoshop
I started using Photoshop about 5 years ago (if I remember correctly). I learnt from tutorials that I found on the web and by joining forums to ask others who had more experience than me about tips and advice. If you're planning on learning the ways of Photoshop I'd highly recommend joining some graphics forums, although you may encounter "that person" who will try to push you down, there will be many others that will give you great advice to make up for it. I also enjoyed the "graphics battles" where two or more people would go against each other to make the best graphic, which would be voted by others. Hm.. it sounds kind of sad when its written down, but was very fun!
I stopped with graphics when I first got my hands on World of Warcraft on April 1st, my birthday, buy me gifts!
World of Warcraft
I've been playing World of Warcraft now for 3 years and most of you that are reading this probably know me for my WoW graphics. My first character was a hunter, oh she was awesome. I remember being kicked out of a AQ20 raid for ninja pulling the whole first room, I'd never been there before and they asked me to pull one mob.. fun times! My main character was a rogue during the end of pre-tbc.
When tbc hit I leveled my rogue to 70, only to reroll to my priest. I've stuck with my priest now and it seems to be the only character I can stick with. I love healing and thats the way my priest has always been. Full epic'd out at 70 and now at 80, tho I guess that isnt hard these days. I cant pvp for anything, I'm a pve priest.. what do you expect. Most of my pvp involves running, even from resto druids.. its happened. My biggest achievement on my priest was getting the Amani Bear, the hard way. Weeks of wiping, luckily I got the first bear in the guild, I love my bear. My bear rawks. I'm going to find a screenshot. Okay focus..
World of.. Graphicscraft? (.. yes)
I've actually havent had much time to play at all lately as my time has been took up by requests for signatures, avatars, backgrounds, guild banners. It is fun tho.
The reason I enjoy making WoW graphics so much is because I like the challenge of representing the class in the piece of work. If you want a warlock sig, I'll make it warlocky, I'm talking evilness here.. evilness. Resto druid sig? There will be hints of nature. What I try to achieve with each graphic is that when people look at it they instantly think of the class, without looking at the characters armor/name. However I'll also always make sure to make it how you want it, which means I will sometimes have to go against the "class representation" theme that I just explained. If you have an idea that you want in your graphic, I'll make it as close to your idea as possible, after all you will be using it. You want a pink death knight sig? I'll do it. The only time I will go against your idea is if it really doesnt look right and I believe it would look better another way, of course I will explain this to you and offer to change it.
I spend the same amount of effort on each one, each piece normally takes longer than 30 minutes. I've spent a whole day on one background once, because I wanted to make it perfect. Which I try with all, just some take longer than others.
